Cognitive
Nootropic and neuroprotective peptides — compounds studied for effects on neurological pathways rather than peripheral tissue.
Russian-origin nootropics
Semax is an ACTH (4-10) analogue and Selank is a tuftsin analogue. Both were developed in Russia and both have a body of published literature that is largely Russian-language, which is worth knowing when searching the databases. Semax is also stocked as a nasal spray preparation.
Other compounds
Dihexa is an angiotensin IV analogue studied in synaptogenesis research. Cerebrolysin is a porcine brain-derived peptide preparation rather than a single molecule — a meaningful distinction when comparing certificates, since a mixture cannot be characterised the same way. Humanin is a mitochondrial-derived peptide with overlapping longevity interest.
Indexed literature for all of these is searchable through PubMed.
